My name is James Carlson and I am an NASM certified personal trainer and nutritional coach. I offer a complete program of fitness and nutrition for seniors that will allow you to maintain and regain your mobility.

This is not “chair aerobics”, nor is it hardcore gym training. My program uses the concept of “functional fitness.” Build strength and improve your health and mobility with exercises that reflect real life activities. The program will feature balance exercises, resistance training and low impact cardio.

It is never too late to get in shape and the sooner you do so, the better your life will be moving forward.

Personal Training

In home personal training is far superior to gym training. Most gym trainers are not experienced in working with seniors and will put you on a program that is not well suited for your goals.

My program is intended to help you maintain and improve your mobility moving forward. Balance training will improve your coordination, allowing you to prevent some of the most common injuries experienced by seniors. Resistance training will help you build muscle and strength. And, the circuit style of my routine will give you a low impact cardio workout.

In short, you will experience a well rounded fitness program that will allow you to more fully enjoy your life.

Nutrition Coaching

Nutrition is extremely important as you get older and especially so when you take on a fitness program.

Through nutrition coaching, I will help you reach and maintain a healthy weight, but there is more to it than that. We will also track your nutrients to make sure that you are giving your body what it needs to be healthy.

This does not mean that you will be on a restrictive diet however. I can make just about any diet healthy, so that you can continue to eat the foods you like and enjoy life.

Functional Fitness

So, what exactly is functional fitness?

It is working out using motions that will help you in real life. We will use a few dumbbells in your workout, but most of the movements will involve unstable weights. Typically this means sandbags. Sandbag training allows you to use half the weight and get a better workout.

An unstable weight requires more muscle recruitment. This allows you to build more strength and also improves balance and muscle control. Things that are particularly important to you as a senior.

In Home Training

Personal training sessions are held in your home or office. This allows you to skip the “gym scene” and all of the health risks that come with it. It also increases your odds of sticking with the program, since the program comes to you.

I bring all equipment necessary for a workout and it is cleaned and sanitized between uses.

The program itself will be customized to you and it will move at your pace. As your strength and balance improves, the program will advance.

I can show you how to get fit and stay fit. At this stage of the game, quality of life is the main goal and I can help you improve yours and maintain it moving forward.





You get more with me than any other trainer in Orlando. When you break my price down per session, I am roughly a third of the price of a commercial gym trainer. And, that is before the cost of the gym membership itself.


Everyone is different, which is why your program will be customized to your needs. The first step will be identifying any weaknesses or imbalances and then correcting them. We can then move forward with a stable basis for growth.


Functional fitness workouts are more fun and much more useful. Get tone, lose weight and make your body move better with less pain and discomfort. My workout program utilizes concepts that many trainers are not familiar with like unstable loads, balance training and agility. You will look better, feel better and have some fun.


Let's face it, gyms are risky. Even before Covid, if you wanted to get sick, a trip to the gym is all it would take. Working out in your home, or office is far healthier and more pleasant. Plus, when the workout comes to you, it is much harder to skip a day.


If you want to reach your goals, you are going to need more than just a few workouts. Unfortunately, that is where most personal trainers stop. Your program will include customized workouts, nutritional assistance, goal setting, progress tracking and accountability. I will do everything in my power to help you stick with the program.


Sometimes the willpower of one is not enough, and that is where I come in. Change is hard, but I will help you reach the finish line. Miss a workout or fail to chart your calories and I will be there to remind you, politely of course.
